A 19-year-old Taofeekat Abimbola Okunlola, became the best graduate of Crescent University Abeokuta, with a cumulative average of 4.88 in the accounting department. In this interview, she talked about her journey and how she achieved it.

How was your journey at Crescent University?
Crescent University is an insight into the real world. I never leave home to go to school. So, traveling home occasionally over the past four years has made me understand what life is like. Crescent University taught me how to be independent and so on.
In addition, living with people from other areas of life increased my tolerance and made new friends with new ideas.
What influenced your decision to study accounting?
In addition to my father who is also an accountant, I also like to deal with financial-related calculations. So, I decided to do it.
How did you become the best graduating student of 2020/2021?
Well, it was not planned, but I achieved it through God, commitment, dedication, and hard work.
What is your best course and what is your hardest course?
I like to study all accounting-related courses, and the one that I find quite challenging is one of the courses borrowed from the Commercial Law Department of the Legal Department. This is because it is different from our usual calculation class and different from what I am used to. However, when I became familiar with it, it was easy.
What is your learning mode?
I study during the day most of the time because I need a nice sleep at night. I don’t study every day, but I have an average of two to three hours of study time.
During your stay, how did the school’s vision affect you?
The vision of the owner of Crescent University (Judge Bola Ajibola) is to train students to fear God and still excel academically. Crescent University has always been a bastion of moral and academic excellence, aiming to ensure that a person is worthy in character and learning.
In addition, constantly reminding me to put God above everything affects my stay in school, because I am always reminded that putting God first can produce amazing results.
What is your next plan?
My next prospect,ct from here is to pursue my professional qualifications, become a chartered accountant, and get my master’s degree.
What advice do you have for graduating students?
My advice to them is no matter where life puts you, make sure you stand out, always work hard and strive to be unique. Find yourself and be open to change, don’t avoid mistakes, learn, and most importantly, remember to pray.
Crescent University trains more first gender-biased than men. In your assessment, what caused this situation?
Well, don’t be gender-biased, but academic excellence is the result of hard work. In universities that ensure the equality of students and give any preferential treatment to any student regardless of gender, there are more first-class female students than male students. It is just a matter of saying that women spend more time reading. This is by no means an insult to male counterparts.
The university provides fair venues for every gender, and it is a good thing for women to realize that they can participate in academic activities and seize opportunities.
