UNILAG Student Wins Best Pharmacy Brain in Nigeria, Takes Home ₦1 Million Prize

Samuel Ayomide Ibrahim, a 500-level UNILAG pharmacy student, won the Best Pharmacy Brain in Nigeria award, beating over 3,000 contestants and receiving a ₦1 million cash prize.

A University of Lagos (UNILAG) student, Samuel Ayomide Ibrahim, has been crowned Best Pharmacy Brain in Nigeria, surpassing over 3,000 final-year students from 24 pharmacy schools across the country.

Samuel, a 500-level pharmacy student, secured the prestigious title at the Grand Finale of the Shalina Young Talent Award (SYTA) Season 6, a competition that celebrates excellence and innovation in pharmacy. His achievement was recognized by Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, FPSN, President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, who presented him with the award and a ₦1 million cash prize.

Reflecting on his journey, Samuel described the competition as a transformative experience, pushing him beyond his limits. He dedicated himself to rigorous preparation for multiple rounds, including quiz challenges, debate presentations, rapid-fire rounds, and viva voce (oral defense).

“What made this experience truly unforgettable was meeting my fellow competitors—talented, passionate, and dedicated pharmacy students from across Nigeria. I was inspired by their stories, their knowledge, and their commitment to shaping the future of pharmacy practice in our country,” he said.

Samuel expressed gratitude to Shalina Healthcare for providing a platform that recognizes and rewards young pharmacy talents. He also thanked his family, friends, mentors, and supporters, acknowledging that success is never achieved alone.

Looking ahead, he sees this victory as the beginning of an even greater journey, committed to continuous learning, growth, and making a positive impact in the field of pharmacy.
