Achievers University Appoints Acting Registrar

Achievers University has Appointed a new Acting Registrar

Achievers University, Owo, has announced the appointment of Mr. Adebayo Olagunju as the Acting Registrar of the institution, effective 17th February 2025. This appointment follows the completion of tenure of the erstwhile Registrar, Rev. Canon Bayode Oladimeji, who has commenced his end-of-tenure leave after a successful five-year tenure.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Omolola Irinoye, disclosed the appointment in a statement issued on 11th February 2025, noting that the University Council directed Mr. Olagunju to assume the role of Acting Registrar pending the appointment of a substantive Registrar.

Mr. Olagunju, who joined Achievers University on 2nd May 2008 as Senior Assistant Registrar (Media)/Public Relations Officer (PRO), exactly a month after the University commenced academic activities, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Since he assumed duty in the University, he has held several key positions, including Senior Assistant Registrar/College Secretary of the College of Social and Management Sciences (COSMAS), and Principal Assistant Registrar/Secretary of the School of Postgraduate Studies. In 2019, he was deployed to the University’s main Registry, and in October 2020, he was promoted to Deputy Registrar.

Prior to joining the University, he served in the Federal Civil Service, where he was posted to the Nigerian Air Force and taught at the Air Force Secondary School, Ikeja, Lagos. He later worked at Tell Communications Limited, publishers of Tell magazine, where he rose to the position of Head of the Copy Desk.

Mr. Olagunju holds a Bachelor of Arts (Education) in Language Arts (English) from the University of Ilorin (1987–1991), a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos (1992–1993), and a Master of Science in Mass Communication (Public Relations) from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State (2011–2013). He is an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

While congratulating Mr. Olagunju on his appointment, the University community appreciates Rev. Canon Bayode Oladimeji for his dedicated service and contributions to the growth and development of Achievers University during his tenure.
