ADUSTECH & YUMSUK ASUU Branch Embarks on Two Weeks Warning Strike 

Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil (formerly Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil) and Yusuf Maitama Sule University (YUMSUK) Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kano Branch, have embarked on a two-week warning strike.

Following series of futile between ASUU, KUST-Wudil branch with the university administration and Kano State government on issues pertaining to the condition of service of our members, university autonomy and funding among others. Also, despite the intervention of several stakeholders including the Zonal and National leadership of ASUU, the Kano state government appears unwilling to address the branch demands. To that effect the Congress of the ASUU-KUST, Wudil arising from SPECIAL CONGRESS meeting held on Wednesday 29th, May 2024 resolved to embark on two weeks warning strike with immediate effect.

The issues that led the union to embark on the action are:

1. Non reinstatement of the Governing Council;
2. Non payment of outstanding entitlements
3. Gross under funding of the university, among others.

Compatriots of the Press, the branch is using this medium to appeal to well-meaning people of Kano state and Nigeria in general to prevail on the government to attend to the issues above to avoid further escalation of the matter.

YUMSUK PRESS RELEASE

RESOLUTIONS OF THE CONGRESS MEETING HELD AT MUHAMMAD SANUSI THEARTER, MAIN CAMPUS, ON WEDNESDAY, 29TH MAY, 2024.

The Congress of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano Branch, convened on Wednesday, 29th May 2024, at Muhammad Sanusi Theater, Main Campus. The Congress received the delegation of NEC on the ongoing struggles of ASUU-YUMSUK branch and resolved as follows:

• The congress agreed that all the issues presented to the National are still lingering and affirm their previous resolution for strike action.
• The congress also agreed to embark on two weeks warning strike and if no any strong commitment from government the branch will proceed to indefinite strike.
