Cursory: After her son earned his doctorate in Rivers state, a Nigerian mother offered him a warm greeting. Because he didn’t have a steady job, the young guy reportedly faced ridicule in his neighborhood.
When her son received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, a proud mother payed out her wrappers on the floor to honor him. Despite having a master’s degree, Ogoni indegene Barinuaka Bestman was unable to get a well-paying position.
According to Rivers Mirror, he eventually began giving home lessons, tutorials, and make-up sessions in the low-income neighborhood of Bori in order to make ends meet. People in his neighborhood started making fun of him because of his poor situation, especially after he decided to pursue a PhD.
The resolute man, however, persisted and continued without being deterred by the hostility around him. Bestman’s mother and siblings never gave up on him, and when he finally earned his degree and, to everyone’s pleasure, rocked his cap and gown, they were thrilled. His mother ordered him to step on her expensive wrappers like a king as she was overjoyed to see him wearing his gown.
Sharing his story on Facebook, Rivers Mirror wrote:
His name is Dr Barinuaka Bestman from Ogoni.
This young man through Grace finished his Master’s and PhD without a Job (just N-power and later make up classes and tutorials as well as home lessons in a low income area; Bori).
So mockery, jest , talk downs, insults etc, from people living in his environment and few other friends were so much.
In all, he continued without being distracted by the so many laugh
The mother and siblings consistently encouraged him and that’s why the mother couldn’t hide her Joy in celebrating him.
May God grant his heart desires and give him more promotion in life.
He is a Friend to be Proud of.
