Daniel Anjorin, a 14-year-old boy, who was the victim of the unfortunate incident tragically lost his life during the incident.
The attack, carried out by Marcus Arduini Monzo, who is currently in police custody, occurred in Hainault, London, on Tuesday, April 29.
Daniel, along with three others, including two police officers, suffered injuries during the attack, with Daniel succumbing to his wounds in the hospital.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), expressed her deepest condolences to Daniel’s family, describing the incident as unfortunate and heartbreaking.
NIDCOM also stated that they would ensure that the suspect faces appropriate punishment for his actions.
The attack took place during rush hour on Tuesday morning, with witnesses reporting a man wielding a samurai-style sword and shouting as he attacked people. Daniel, who was on his way to school, was fatally stabbed during the assault.
Marcus Arduini Monzo has been charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He appeared in court wearing a grey tracksuit and will remain in police custody until his next hearing.


Daniel’s family described him as a beloved child who brought them joy and was dedicated to his studies. His school also praised him as a true scholar with a positive nature and gentle character.
Community members have expressed sadness and disbelief over the tragic incident, with many offering support to Daniel’s family. Floral tributes have been laid at the scene of the attack as the community comes together to mourn and support one another.
