Cursory: Two female students have been abducted after several bandits raided the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara state. According to reports, the two missing students are from the institution’s microbiology department. The kidnappers locking up two security guards stationed at the facility was also confirmed by the Zamfara state police.


Unidentified bandits operating in Zamfara State have attacked the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) there. On Sunday, April 2, robbers raided Sabon-Gida, a neighborhood next to the university’s main campus, and kidnapped the two female students of the institution, according to Channels Television.
Sources identified the female students as Maryam and Zainab, and they claimed that they resided at the dormitory, which is situated in a neighborhood across from the university’s main campus and also revealed that the bandits was able to lock security guards inside. Two civilian guards assigned to the institution were successfully imprisoned by the bandits, according to The Punch.
As the students were taken away, the guards’ mobile phone sets were also destroyed. The Zamfara state police command’s spokesperson, Mohammed Shehu, confirmed the criminal activity that was going on in the school, saying:
“On receiving the complaint, the Police Tactical team moved to the area, but the hoodlums had already left with the victims to yet to be identified destination.
“On receipt of the report, the Police Tactical team moved to the scene, but the hoodlums had already fled with the victims to yet to be identified destination.
“The Commissioner of Police has further deployed reinforcement to complement the ongoing rescue operation to rescue the hostages hale and hearty, arrest the perpetrators and charge them to court for prosecution.”
He also noted that the Zamfara state commissioner of police, Kolo Yusuf, has urged residents of the state to support the police in its efforts to rescue the students unhurt.
