A viral video showing female students in Benue assaulting and humiliating a peer has sparked nationwide outrage, with Nigerians demanding justice and stricter action against bullying in schools.

A shocking video circulating on social media has sparked widespread anger after showing a group of female students assaulting and humiliating a fellow student. The footage, which surfaced on Monday via X (formerly Twitter), shows at least five girls in school uniforms attacking the victim, stripping her and subjecting her to degrading treatment.
The incident is believed to have occurred in Benue State, although authorities have not yet confirmed the exact school involved. In the video, the victim is seen trying to cover herself while being dragged and mocked by the attackers. Disturbingly, a male student watches without intervening, while another person records the incident.
The video has triggered strong reactions from Nigerians, with many calling on the Benue State Government, the police, and relevant agencies to take immediate action. Social media users condemned the act as cruel, inhumane, and a sign of deeper issues such as poor supervision and moral decline among students.
Some individuals have demanded strict punishment, including legal action and correctional measures, stressing that such behaviour should not go unpunished. Others urged school authorities to identify those responsible and ensure justice for the victim.
This incident adds to a growing list of bullying cases in Nigerian schools. Earlier in March, authorities in Edo State ordered the arrest and prosecution of students involved in a separate bullying case at Igbinedion Education Centre. Similarly, in 2024, Lead British International School in Abuja faced nationwide criticism after a video showed a student repeatedly assaulting a classmate.
Overall, the latest case has reignited concerns about student safety, bullying, and the need for stricter disciplinary systems in schools across the country.
