Bauchi State’s education board (SUBEB) has taken sweeping disciplinary actions—including demotions, suspensions, and supervisor reassignments—against staff for misconduct and absenteeism, while promoting deserving employees to improve accountability and performance in schools.

allscho The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has announced a wave of disciplinary actions against underperforming and negligent personnel within its education system. These actions include demotions, suspensions, and the issuance of formal queries to staff and teachers across the state.
Speaking to the press after a surprise visit to several schools marking the start of the third term, SUBEB Chairman Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Duguri disclosed that all education supervisors under the Bauchi Local Government Education Authority have been dissolved and instructed to return to their teaching roles immediately.
According to Duguri, this decision stems from widespread misconduct and a lack of commitment among supervisors, despite the state government’s continued investment in teacher welfare and school infrastructure.
He stressed the importance of professionalism and reiterated the Board’s zero-tolerance policy towards negligence and truancy. Duguri emphasized that the academic success of students must remain the central focus of all education stakeholders.
In addition, Duguri expressed dissatisfaction with the poor attendance of teachers and students in several areas, attributing the issue to weak oversight by School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs), principals, and other responsible authorities.
To boost staff morale and reinforce commitment, SUBEB has also approved promotions for eligible personnel demonstrating exemplary performance.
During the monitoring tour, Hajiya Talatu Yakubu, Education Secretary of the Bauchi Local Government Authority, praised the improved attendance in metropolitan schools but pointed out continued absenteeism in rural communities. She warned that salaries would be withheld from teachers who fail to report to duty without valid, documented excuses.
Yakubu also pledged to reward diligent staff members, encouraging continued dedication and service excellence.
