The Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU), has decided to go on a one month warning strike in an attempt to press home their demands.

After serious deliberations that dragged into the early hours of Monday, the National Executive Council, NEC, of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU,
has voted to embark on one-month warning strike to press home its demands from the government.
A source at the meeting held in Lagos told Vanguard in confidence that the strike is to allow the FG do the needful failure to which the union would go on an indefinite strike.
“We just want to give the government a long rope hoping that it would see the need to avoid a total paralysis of academic activities. We are parents too and have our children in the system but we cannot watch and allow the total collapse of education in the country.
“Our agitation is in the interest of all. If the system is better, we will all enjoy it. Personalities in the country have waded into the matter but the government seems recalcitrant. Our National President would explain more when he briefs the press later today,” he said.
Reactions to the strike:
@Sacchayousouf: Let ASUU wait till next elections before they go on strike. At least, they won’t be participating in the elections to give us another set of bad leaders who in conjunction with ASUU always bribe their way in.
@AammrAdamu: ASUU have been railroaded by previous government with promises and that make the issues difficult to solve. But here is the thing, any government that implement those promises will go down in the history lane as the government who values education the most
@akojijeremiah: Please if may asked what are the reasons for asuu going on strike because some of this implementation they are fighting for had already been there before this present administration came in and before some of this asuu members even got jobs.
@zali_hassan: some people ain’t gr8tful…ASUU una get mind,bt no worries……what u do to others,u shall expect same to be done to u in a different manner,,,,,shebi u get children
