A brilliant Nigerian Lady, Ihilesen Opeyemi Ehimiaghe has set a unique academic record after earning a Doctorates degree in Law without having masters law degree.

Ihilesen Opeyemi Ehimiaghe celebrated her achievement on Linkedin noting that she was given a Master’s degree waiver after earning her Bachelor’s of Law degree with an outstanding performance.
Ihilesen Opeyemi Ehimiaghe was the best graduating student at Lancaster University’s Faculty of Law in 2017 after bagging outstanding first-class honours.
As a recognition of her exceptional performance, she was granted a Master’s degree waiver to allow her to enrol for a PhD immediately. She was also granted several scholarships and funding awards to pursue her Doctorate of Law degree.
In her word;
“Two days ago, I was conferred with a Doctorate in Law (PhD) from Lancaster University. When I started my PhD in 2017, after receiving a master’s waiver on account of excellent academic performance, I looked forward to this day with anticipation. Though the journey was not always smooth sailing, I remain thankful for the tremendous support and back-to-back funding I received from Lancaster University.
“Five years after losing my mum (my only surviving parent at the time) mid-way through my final year of university, things are surprisingly falling into pleasant places for me.
“I look forward to starting my training contract with Allen & Overy next year. Meanwhile, I have enjoyed working with incredible people at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP whilst juggling part-time academic roles.
“I anticipate that I will be open to short-term opportunities – both in the legal sector and academia – from September 2022. Please feel free to reach out if you have any opportunities available.
“Thank you, everyone for your congratulatory messages on various platforms. Congratulations are indeed in order.”
