Officer Allotey, Police Man Who Graduated As Overall Best Student With Impressive Grade

Cursory: Lance Corporal Lancelot Allotey has graduated from the University of Ghana as the class valedictorian. The police officer earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in Music and a Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of 3.82 out of 4.0. He has shared how he was able to manage his work and academics.

A brilliant young police corporal with the Ghana Police Service, Lancelot Allotey, has graduated from the University of Ghana as the overall best student with a Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of 3.82.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and was the valedictorian of his class at the March 2023 congregation.

Lancelot isn’t just brilliant and smart he is also a skilled trumpeter. While he was a student, he joined the Department of Music’s Brass Ensemble and swiftly advanced to the position of lead trumpeter in a number of student productions, departmental concerts, and other events.

At level 300, he was appointed the Brass Ensemble’s student director, and for the 2020–2021 academic year, he was chosen to serve as the ASPA’s president.

The valedictory address at the university’s graduation ceremony was given by the proud married father of two kids, who recalled balancing work and education.

“As a student and employee, my first few weeks on campus were quite challenging. I had to return to class the next day after my night shift, and after lectures, I had to report back to work.

“Even though I occasionally had trouble staying awake during lectures, as the phrase goes, ‘you cannot cheat nature,'” he said, per Ghanaweb.

In a telephone conversation with YEN.com.gh, Allotey expressed excitement as he credited God and his wife for the achievement.

”It’s a milestone that needs to be celebrated. It wasn’t easy, but I’ll enjoy the moment and focus on what’s ahead …

”I aimed not to graduate as the valedictorian but to do my best. But things turned out this way,” he told YEN.com.gh.

When asked how he balanced his studies with his duties as a police officer, he said:

”It was by God’s grace; He gave me the strength because it wasn’t easy. There were a lot of challenges; for four years, I was on night duty, but He saw me through … My wife was also supportive and encouraging. She believed in my dream from the first day; she did a great job,” he said.

The policeman was grateful to the administration of the institution for creating a setting that promoted instruction, learning, and research.

Before pursuing his degree at the university, Lance Corporal Allotey attended senior high school, where he majored in general arts with electives in government, economics, optional mathematics, and geography. From 2009 to 2011, he also served as senior prefect.
