Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State, on Friday, matriculated a total of 1,900 students, who are newly admitted into the university for various programmes.
The university also assured the new intake and their seniors as well as other members of the university community of safety and good welfare.
Speaking at the matriculation event of the university, which was 14th edition, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie, who was represented by the deputy vice-chancellor, Prof Adedeji Daramola, asked the students to give deserved attention to their studies and other legitimate activities required of them.
He said the university mandate is to produce graduates worthy of knowledge and character for the global market and also to carry out societal-driven researches and community service.
He said the university is doing all these also takes the security of lives and property as a key priority while at the same time trusting God for divine protection.
The vice-chancellor, in a statement made available by the Deputy Director, Public Relations and Marketing of the university, Dr Elvis Otobo, disclosed that the university is fast growing in students’ population and infrastructural development and that all the courses and programmes being run are fully accredited by relevant government agencies.
He added that it is mandatory for every student irrespective of course of study and level to get IT certification in areas directly relevant to their programmes before graduation.
He equally said the university had already adapted to blended classrooms combining physical and virtual modes of teaching and learning.
He, however, commended the parents’ forum for what he called their strong support to the growth and development of the university.
He pointed out that the medical centre and a new bus for ambulance service for the use of the university community were donated by the forum.
He said with the facility and other hospital equipment and well-stocked pharmacy, those in need of medical attention are being attended to while referrals is being given when necessary.
