To generate alternative power supply and proffer solution to energy problems confronting the nation, University of Ilorin Renewable Energy Centre (UREC), is set to commence a free master class in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics (STEAM), for 5,000 students from all tertiary institutions within Kwara State.
The event, with the theme: “Innovate Kwara,” is targeted towards getting a Guinness World Record for the institution. It will commence on March 21, 2020, at the Multi-Purpose Hall, University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

Country Director, Science Ambassador Foundation, Peace Nnabugwu, said: “UREC in collaboration with Sterling Alternative Finance (SAF) will equip graduating students with work ethics to excel in their chosen careers. Our goal is to empower graduate students with the right innovative skills. This is wholly based on ideation, which is very crucial to the innovation ecosystem…”
The goal, she stressed, “is to take 5,000 students through the leadership and mentoring programme. The students will be taken through virtual interaction and organised hands-on practical sessions. They will be grouped into clusters of 100 students per unit with assigned international and local mentors.”
She expressed optimism that this level of synergy would place UREC and Kwara State on the global educational map and increase investments in the initiative.
