Covenant University awarded 339 First-Class degrees at its 19th convocation, highlighting its commitment to academic excellence, character-building, and producing future leaders.


Covenant University, located in Ota, Ogun State, has further cemented its reputation for academic excellence by awarding First-Class honors to 339 graduates during its 19th convocation ceremony. This achievement reinforces the institution’s commitment to high academic standards and innovative learning, solidifying its status as one of Nigeria’s leading universities.
The convocation highlighted the university’s efforts to nurture future leaders by combining academic rigor with Christian values and character-building. Dr. David Oyedepo, Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Regents, emphasized Covenant University’s mission to provide quality education while addressing character development challenges among young people. He reaffirmed the university’s role as a solution-oriented institution and one of Nigeria’s most sought-after private universities.
Pro-Chancellor Bishop David Abioye advised graduates to be patient in their future endeavors and to become agents of change in society. “You have been shaped into leaders; now is the time to rise and make a difference,” he said.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo praised the students’ achievements, noting that the high number of First-Class graduates reflects both their dedication and the university’s focus on producing global change-makers.
Among the 1,607 graduates, 762 earned Second-Class Upper degrees, while 330 achieved Second-Class Lower honors. The event also celebrated Sanni Rilwan Oludamilere, an Industrial Mathematics graduate, who was named the Best Overall Student with a CGPA of 4.99.
This milestone underscores Nigeria’s advancing academic landscape, with Covenant University continuing to set new standards in education by equipping students to address global challenges.
