A lecturer at UNIZIK recounted an altercation with a student who allegedly tore his clothes and accused him of inappropriate behavior, after he confronted her about filming him walking on campus.

A lecturer from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has recounted his experience following an altercation with a student who allegedly tore his clothes during the incident.
In a widely shared post on X (formerly Twitter), the lecturer detailed the events leading up to the confrontation.
He explained that after finishing a lecture, he was walking on campus when he noticed a student filming a video in the middle of a pathway.
As he walked past her, he lightly tapped her shoulder to ask her to step aside. However, he then heard her utter, “Who does he think he is?” This concerned him, prompting him to turn back to check if she was one of his students and to request that she delete the video out of concern for being recorded.
When he approached her to ask for her phone, she allegedly reacted violently by biting his arms.
To prevent her from escaping, he held onto her hand, which led to her becoming increasingly aggressive, resulting in her tearing his clothes and striking him.
The lecturer stated:
“I had just left Hall 19 after Dr. Ebekue’s class. As I was walking, I noticed a girl recording a video on the window hood, posing in the middle of the walkway. I gently tapped her and asked her to move aside.”
“After a few steps, I heard her say, ‘Who does this man think he is?’ I turned to check if she was a student of mine and to ensure she deleted any footage of me.”
“When I reached for her phone, she bit me on both arms. I held her left hand to stop her from running away.”
“At that point, she completely lost control, tearing my clothes, slapping my face, and scratching me—all of which I endured calmly, much to my own admiration, if I may say so.”
He noted that they had just come from the security office, where the student claimed he was attempting to strip her in the faculty. He mentioned that her mother is a lecturer in the Engineering department, which he believes might have influenced her actions. “So, my Theatre Family, this is how it unfolded. We will see how this progresses.”
His remarks were made shortly after the student shared her own account of the events, alleging that the lecturer had inappropriately touched her.
