Enugu State Announces 2025 Scholarship Awards Scheme .


The Government of Enugu State, via the Enugu State Scholarship & Education Loans Board (ESSELB), today launched its 2025 scholarship awards programme for deserving indigenes of the state. The initiative, graciously endorsed by His Excellency, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Executive Governor of Enugu State, is designed to support undergraduate, postgraduate and teacher-development pathways.

Scholarship Categories & Slots for Enugu State Scholarship Awards Scheme
- Undergraduate Scholarship: 500 slots reserved for students currently in 100- or 200-level in any recognised Nigerian tertiary institution.
- Teachers’ Scholarship: 1,000 slots for indigenous teachers in Enugu State Government schools who aspire to obtain a master’s degree, and commit to teaching for a minimum of ten (10) years following the award.
- Postgraduate Scholarship: 100 slots open to postgraduate students (Master’s and PhD) in Nigerian universities.
Eligibility Criteria for Enugu State Scholarship Awards Scheme
Applicants must:
- Be confirmed indigenes of Enugu State.
- Possess a valid admission for the 2025/2026 academic session in the case of first-degree or postgraduate students. Teachers must have valid employment in Enugu State schools.
Required Documents for Enugu State Scholarship Awards Scheme
Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
- Certificate of Local Government of Origin
- Admission Letter / Letter of Acceptance for the institution
- Attestation Letter from the Traditional Ruler (HRH) of their community
- For teachers: Employment Letter from Enugu State Government
- Passport photograph
Application Process & Timeline
- Applications open on 14 November 2025.
- Deadline for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants: 28 November 2025 (12:00 am).
- Deadline for teachers’ category: 8 December 2025.
- Application is via the online portal: apply.esselb.en.gov.ng
- Applicants must upload all required documents as one (1) PDF file no larger than 2 MB.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a computer-based test (CBT). Persons with visual impairment in 100/200 level are eligible to apply.
