Ex-RCF President at OOU Responds to Criticism Over Same-Sex Marriage

Former RCF president at OOU, Jimmy Adekoya, has responded to criticism over his same-sex engagement, stating that his only “offense” is being a gay man who loves Jesus.

Former Redeemed Christian Fellowship (RCF) president at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Jimmy Adekoya, has reacted to backlash following news of his engagement to a Caucasian man.

Reports earlier revealed that the OOU graduate, who relocated abroad, had proposed to his partner. In photos circulating online, both men were seen wearing suits, with Adekoya proudly displaying his engagement ring.

The announcement sparked controversy, with many criticizing him for his choice, particularly given his past leadership role in a Christian fellowship.

In response to the criticism, Adekoya took to social media to address the backlash, stating that his only “offense” was being a gay man who also loves Jesus.

“When your only offense is being a gay man who loves Jesus,” he wrote.

Mixed Reactions from Social Media Users

His post has since triggered various reactions online, with some supporting him and others condemning his stance.

@numberonetweep: “Sometimes una go dey confuse God.”

@BENNkrypt: “This is what they’ve reduced Christianity to, and that’s why everybody sees it as a joke these days. Nobody is stopping you from living any life you want, just don’t associate yourself with the church and Christianity anymore. Try this with one religion like that, your mind go dey.”

@kene_Valentine: “He should be ashamed of himself. But he won’t because they never are.”

@Reii_nnaa: “Gay man and Jesus don’t fit into the same sentence.”

The debate continues as Adekoya stands firm in his beliefs despite the criticism.
