Federal University Lokoja will reopen on March 11, 2025, after a three-week closure due to student protests over fatal road accidents, with lectures resuming on March 17.

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Kogi State, has announced its reopening starting Tuesday, March 11, 2025, following a three-week closure due to student protests over fatal road accidents that claimed the lives of five students.
The institution was initially shut down to prevent further unrest after students took to the streets to express their grievances. However, after an emergency Senate meeting on Monday, March 10, 2025, the university approved the resumption of academic activities, with lectures set to begin on Monday, March 17, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Rebecca Okojie, the university management assured stakeholders that efforts are being made to address the underlying safety concerns that led to the protests, particularly the recurring road mishaps near the institution.
