The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has announced that the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State will commence operations in September 2024.
Speaking at the handover of the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) by Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, the Minister confirmed that the first batch of students will be admitted this academic year. He assured that the National Assembly has approved the University’s personnel, overhead, and capital budgets, with TETFund allocations also secured for 2024.
Dr. Alausa emphasized the government’s commitment to STEMM education under the Nigerian Education Sector Renewal Initiative, calling the University’s launch a transformative achievement for Southern Kaduna and beyond.
Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmed, described the institution as a hub for innovation, research, and technological advancement. She commended Governor Sani and Senator Sunday Marshall Katung for their roles in its establishment.
Governor Sani reaffirmed Kaduna’s commitment to faculty development and quality education, stressing the need for skilled lecturers to complement infrastructure. He highlighted TETFund’s impact on Kaduna State University and expressed optimism about similar support for the new institution.
The launch of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, marks a major step in advancing science, technology, and education in Nigeria.
