The Federal Government has assured NYSC members that the backlog of their delayed ₦77,000 allowance will be paid, though not immediately.

After months of delay, the Federal Government has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that the backlog of their increased ₦77,000 monthly allowance will be paid.
The government had announced an increase in corps members’ stipends from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000 in September 2024. However, despite repeated promises, the implementation has been stalled, sparking frustration among serving corps members.
Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to disbursing the owed payments.
“You saw the new DG saying that you will get it, and they’re asking him a question: ‘What about those that are going out now, are they going to receive the backlog?’ He said, ‘We have your details,’” Olawande stated.
He further assured that while the payment may not be immediate, it remains a priority and will be processed.
Serving corps members, as well as those who were in the scheme when the increment was announced, are expected to receive backdated payments once the disbursement begins.
