A Lagos-based corps member claims she is receiving threats from NYSC officials after criticizing President Tinubu’s administration over economic hardship and rising inflation in a viral video.

A corps member serving in Lagos State has alleged that she is receiving threats after criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration over economic hardship and rising inflation.
In a viral TikTok video, the corps member, identified by her handle @talktoraye, expressed frustration over Nigeria’s worsening economy. She openly called out President Tinubu, labeling him a “terrible leader” and questioning what steps his government was taking to alleviate citizens’ suffering.
She also lamented the financial strain of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, stating that her monthly allowance was insufficient to cover her expenses.
“If more Nigerians spoke up about what we’re going through, maybe something would change. I don’t know if any president has been as terrible as you, but you are such a terrible president.”
She described her struggles with skyrocketing prices, recounting how food prices have nearly doubled within weeks.
“I just left the supermarket, and everything has gone up again. Prices keep rising every week. What is the government doing about this? Will it ever stop? Why should a crate of eggs cost ₦6,500? I remember when it was just ₦800. This is overwhelming—this is my first time living outside my family home.”
The corps member also highlighted the increasing cost of basic services, including security and electricity bills.
“I got home, and my security and NEPA bills had doubled. It’s insane! Every naira I earn goes to paying bills. Even going out with friends is expensive—Uber costs ₦25,000. Why is everything so costly?”
Following her viral video, she alleged that NYSC officials began pressuring her to take it down. She later shared another video where she claimed to have received multiple threatening calls, allegedly from NYSC officials.
In a recorded phone call, an official reportedly scolded her for her comments.
“Are you normal? Keep quiet and take down that video!” the official allegedly said.
As of now, the NYSC has not issued an official response regarding the allegations.
