A JSS2 student’s heartfelt letter expressing admiration and a desire for friendship with his teacher went viral on TikTok, earning praise for his emotional maturity and the teacher’s positive impact.

A young teacher shared a heartfelt moment from her teaching practice, revealing a letter she received from a JSS2 student expressing admiration for her.
Posted on TikTok by @bennedictta, the letter showcased the student’s deep appreciation and desire for friendship, inspired by the teacher’s kindness, beauty, and grace.
The student, identifying as dark-skinned and a member of JSS2 B, wrote:
“You are soft-spoken, elegant, beautiful, gorgeous. You made me stunned since I met you. My aim of this letter is to tell you how much I wish to be your friend.”
Aware of the possible misinterpretation, the student hoped the teacher would not see the letter as disrespectful, a common concern when students seek personal connections with teachers. They emphasized their admiration, calling the teacher their role model and likening her presence to a guiding light:
“Some teachers find it hard to accept a child’s proposal because they see it as disrespect. I am pleading, accept me to be your friend. You need to look at yourself, you are beautiful. Without your light, I am in a dark tunnel. You are my role model.”

The touching letter quickly went viral, drawing praise on social media. Many applauded the student’s bravery and emotional maturity, while others commended the teacher for making such a meaningful impact.
