Nigerian singer, Adedamola Adefolahan, aka Fireboy DML, has revealed that his father made him sign an undertaking when he was moving to Lagos to start his music career.


Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly called Fireboy DML, has shared his father’s reaction when he told him that he will be dropping out of school to focus on music.
The 26-year-old Peru crooner who started his music journey in a church choir revealed that when he told his father that he will be quitting school his dad gave him a two-year ultimatum to make it in music.
The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) final year dropout said his father made him sign an undertaking and promised to always respect him.
Fireboy disclosed this during a chat with Zeze Millz.
According to him, when he was in Ogun, he had to become a studio rat so that he could learn the art of songwriting.
As soon as he became a good songwriter, he decided to relocate to locate to pursue his music career.

A choice that has turned out fine for him.
In 2020, Fireboy’s “Champion” was used by FC Bayern Munich for their UEFA Super Cup celebrations.
His song “Scatter” was also included in the FIFA 21 game soundtrack.
From studio brat to winning numerous awards, Fireboy can surely be regarded as an inspiration to many.
