Abdullahi Muhammad Ahmad, a 23-year-old political science graduate with a 4.50 CGPA, took the bold step of visiting a company uninvited to submit his CV after unsuccessful online applications, earning praise from the manager but is still seeking employment.

In a determined effort to secure employment, 23-year-old Abdullahi Muhammad Ahmad, a Political Science graduate with a 4.50 CGPA from Al-Qalam University, Katsina, took an unconventional step by visiting a company uninvited to submit his CV, despite no open job listings or interviews scheduled.
In an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, Ahmad explained that after sending countless emails to companies without receiving any positive feedback, his brother encouraged him to try a different approach—by physically introducing himself to the organizations he admired.
Ahmad, originally from Kano State, shared that he had been actively searching for opportunities as a policy research analyst or research assistant but faced repeated rejections. On his brother’s advice, he decided to directly visit a company of interest, requesting a meeting with the manager to personally explain his skills, passion, and the value he could bring to their team.
“I had applied to several organizations through emails with no success. My brother suggested I visit companies in person to present myself and show how I could contribute fresh ideas and enthusiasm to their work,” he said.
Though Ahmad chose to keep the company’s identity private, he confirmed it is based in Kano. Upon meeting the manager—a familiar acquaintance—Ahmad was warmly received. The manager expressed admiration for his qualifications and assured him that his CV would be kept on file for future openings.
“The company didn’t hire me immediately, but the manager was very supportive and impressed with my CV. He assured me that if any opportunities become available, they will reach out,” Ahmad revealed.
Currently, Ahmad is still on the lookout for a suitable job. He expressed a preference for opportunities in Kano or Abuja, where he has family support, but remains open to working in any state across Nigeria.
When asked about his passion for political science, Ahmad shared that his interest stems from a love of research and a desire to study political ideologies, leadership dynamics, and historical governance models.
Ahmad’s story has resonated with many, serving as a reminder that sometimes, bold moves and face-to-face interactions can make a lasting impression in a competitive job market.
