A FUTA final-year student went viral for funding his education by riding Okada, catching the attention of content creator Kopa Respect, who, moved by his determination, offered financial support.

A 500-level student at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has gone viral after his story of perseverance and determination touched many online. The student, who is studying Statistics, has been working as a commercial motorcycle (Okada) rider to fund his education and cover his school fees.
His inspiring journey came to light when he unknowingly picked up popular Nigerian content creator, Kopa Respect, as a passenger. Known for his humorous NYSC-related pranks, Kopa Respect attempted to trick the student by pretending he couldn’t pay for the ride.
However, the unsuspecting FUTA student stood his ground, insisting that he needed the payment. It was during their conversation that he revealed his struggles—sharing that he had no external support and had to rely solely on his Okada earnings to stay in school.
Deeply moved by his resilience, Kopa Respect decided to help, offering financial assistance and encouragement to ease the student’s burden.
Sharing the experience on social media, Kopa Respect wrote:
“It’s easy to judge people for being strict with money, but behind every decision, there’s a story. This young man is a fighter—navigating a tough system, working tirelessly to put himself through school. His struggle isn’t about greed; it’s about survival and determination.”
He further addressed the challenges Nigerian students face, questioning the country’s educational and economic system:
“Dear Nigerian Government, working hard for an education is one thing; facing uncertainty after graduation is another. What happens to those who sacrifice everything for a degree when there is no clear future for them? This young man is fighting for a better future, but what does the system have in store for him after graduation?”
The story has since sparked widespread reactions, with many applauding the student’s resilience and calling for better opportunities for hardworking youths in Nigeria.
