FUTMINNA Inducts 190 Final-year Students As Professional Teachers

The School of Science and Technology Education (SSTE) , Federal University of Technology, Minna, in collaboration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), has inducted 190 final-year students as professional members of TRCN.

The induction ceremony took place on Friday, January 31, 2025, at CPES Hall, Bosso Campus.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Director of the Academic Planning Unit, Prof. John Kolo Alhassan , commended the efforts of the Dean and emphasized the significance of the occasion as the first professional teachers’ induction in the school. He highlighted that professionalism in teaching comes with ethics and values, making teachers vital in shaping society through knowledge and character development.

In her remarks, the Acting Registrar of TRCN, Dr. Stella Maria Nwokeocha, represented by Dr. Ahmad Okunlola, Director of Regulation, Accreditation, and Enforcement at TRCN Headquarters, Abuja, congratulated the inductees. She described them as essential change agents in the education sector, urging them to embrace technology and uphold the profession’s ethical standards.

The Dean of SSTE, Prof. Amosa Isiaka Gambari, described the event as a celebration of the professionalization of teaching and the recognition of educators as key architects of societal progress. He reaffirmed that teaching is the foundation of all other professions and commended the Federal Government for establishing TRCN, which has played a crucial role in promoting accountability and elevating teaching standards in Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the inductees, Mal. Ibrahim Muhammed Mustapha expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his leadership and commitment to academic excellence. The event also featured goodwill messages from Dr. Halima Shehu of the GST Department and Dr. Ibrahim Ismaila Kuta, Head of the Educational Technology Department.

Dr. Chike-Okoli Felicia, in her vote of thanks, appreciated the University Management and TRCN for ensuring the event’s success. The ceremony concluded with the formal admission of the new TRCN members into the professional body.
