FUTO Notice On Suspension Of Upward Review Of Students’ Service Charges/Fees

Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) management has suspended the upward review of students service charges/fees.

As we all know, Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) pays one of the least student service charges of any university in the country. Therefore, early this year, we set up a Fee Review Committee that included all key stakeholders. The committee submitted its proposed charges increment template, which considered multiple factors but in particular, charges of sister institutions; and adjusted current receipts upward by 25% -36% for different programmes.

After due consideration of the following;

• The state of the economy.
• The state of FUTO.
• Impact on OUR POOR and VULNERABLE STUDENTS and THIER FAMILIES.
• Status of the Federal Government Student Loan Scheme.
• The need to maintain peace and ensure we conclude our current session without disruption.

THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT AND SENATE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO INCREASE FEES AT THIS TIME. We all therefore must make the necessary sacrifices these challenging times demand.
