GheGhe Earns Over $30,000 from His ‘University of Wisdom’ With 170,000 Attendees

Emmanuel “GheGhe” Obruste, a self-proclaimed illiterate and online personality, earned over $30,000 through his satirical “University of Wisdom and Understanding” during a TikTok livestream that attracted more than 170,000 viewers.

Popular online personality Emmanuel Obruste, widely known as GheGhe, has reportedly earned over $30,000 through his unique online platform, the “University of Wisdom and Understanding.” This unconventional “university” attracted more than 170,000 virtual students during a single TikTok livestream.

The surprising milestone was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @Olamide0fficial, who posted a video of GheGhe recounting his journey and the overwhelming support he’s received.

In the video, GheGhe—who describes himself as an orphan—expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians for the love shown to him. He proudly stated:

Thank you so much, Nigerians, for the love. More than 170,000 people watched me live on TikTok. They attended my lecture today at GheGhe University of Wisdom and Understanding.

He also claimed to have set a national record by being the first individual in Nigeria to gather such a large audience on a TikTok live session.

Despite lacking formal education, GheGhe declared himself the first illiterate to found a university in Nigeria, even if it’s an unconventional and humorous one. He added:

I’m not a graduate, but by the grace of God, I founded a school. A university where, once you graduate, women will fear to ask you for money.

The TikTok gifts and monetary support from fans during his livestream reportedly amounted to over $30,000, a figure that has drawn both admiration and skepticism online.

Public Reactions

The event sparked a flurry of comments on social media. Here are a few notable reactions:

  • @vickyblaq894: “Omo, see how they’re comparing Peller to GheGhe on Twitter. The hate for Peller is too much!”
  • @drmosley01: “Funny thing is, most of the gifts came from women. Truth is, many women don’t like men who are overly soft… sometimes you need to be like GheGhe.”
  • @wfialaosika1: “This guy is a clown. He’s asking broke fans to join a betting platform via his link!”

GheGhe’s story blends humor, hustle, and the power of digital platforms in Nigeria’s fast-evolving creator economy. Whether viewed as a comedian, content creator, or unconventional educator, one thing is clear: he knows how to draw a crowd.
