Heartbroken Nigerian Woman Shares How Boyfriend She Sponsored Through School Left Her for an Educated Woman

A Nigerian woman who sold goods under Oshodi bridge revealed she was heartbroken after sponsoring her boyfriend through university, only for him to leave her for an educated woman—prompting her to focus solely on her business and family.

A Nigerian woman who sells goods beneath the Oshodi bridge has opened up about the painful betrayal she suffered after supporting her boyfriend financially through university, only to be abandoned once he graduated and married another woman.

In a now-viral video shared on TikTok by user @ekaftv, the woman shared her emotional journey—from falling in love and sponsoring her partner’s education, to being heartbroken and rebuilding her life through street trading.

“I’m from Ikorodu, but I sell goods under the Oshodi bridge. I was in love with a guy from Ikorodu and used to send him money—₦50k, ₦20k at a time—for school and upkeep,” she said in Yoruba-accented English.

“He later dumped me and married someone educated. I was warned, but I didn’t listen. I was heartbroken, but I moved on. Now, my market is my man.”

She expressed that she no longer believes in love the way she once did. Her focus now is on her business, which she says brings her peace and independence.

“If I want anything, I buy it from my profits. I won’t love another man unless he can take me out of this hustle—rent a shop for me and give me stability.”

She revealed more about her background:

  • She is the only daughter in a family of five from Oyo State.
  • Both parents are deceased.
  • She is responsible for her four brothers’ education.
  • She refuses to engage in hookup culture, choosing instead to earn through honest trading.

Despite her tough experiences, she remains optimistic:

“When the time is right, a good man will come.”

The video sparked widespread attention online, with many viewers expressing empathy, admiration, and mixed reactions.
