House of Representatives Member Kama Awards Scholarships to Three Pupils

Hon. Nkemkanma Kama has awarded scholarships to three pupils from his constituency to support their education up to the university level, following a one-month holiday lesson program he sponsored to boost literacy and engage students across Onicha, Ohaozara, and Ivo Federal Constituency.

Hon. Nkemkanma Kama has awarded scholarships to three pupils from his constituency to support their education up to the university level.

Hon. Kama made this announcement at a ceremony held at his country home in Ishiagu, Ivo LGA, Ebonyi State. The event marked the conclusion of a one-month holiday lesson program he sponsored for primary and secondary school students across his constituency.

The holiday lessons, dubbed “Kama Holiday Lesson,” were conducted in 12 centers across the constituency. During the event, Hon. Kama, impressed by the presentations of three pupils, immediately offered them scholarships, pledging to support their education until they complete their university studies.

The ceremony was attended by hundreds of beneficiaries of the holiday lessons, along with the teachers employed by Hon. Kama to facilitate the program. A total of 2,500 pupils and 250 teachers participated in the holiday lessons.

In his remarks, Hon. Kama highlighted that the holiday lessons aimed to boost literacy levels in the constituency and prepare the children for a brighter future. He commended the pupils and their teachers for their dedication and sacrifices during the program, particularly recognizing the teachers who balanced their personal commitments to support the students.

He expressed his commitment to continue sponsoring the lessons to keep students engaged, reduce idleness, and prevent anti-social behaviors, thus contributing to a healthier society. He urged the students not to take their education for granted, emphasizing that education is the foundation of success.

Hon. Kama also promised to introduce vocational studies in future programs to equip students with practical and technical skills, making them self-reliant beyond academics.

Additionally, the lawmaker donated bags of fertilizer to the teachers to promote food sufficiency in the area. He also gave cash rewards to outstanding students and teachers in recognition of their efforts.

Reverend Wealth Dorcas, the Chief of Lecture for the holiday lessons, noted the initial challenge in convincing parents to allow their children to participate but expressed joy over the positive impact the lessons had on the children. She urged the lawmaker to maintain the program in future long vacations to continue nurturing the children of the constituency.

Dr. Napoleon Elem, the Coordinator of the holiday lessons, remarked that the program had addressed the shortage of teachers, which is prevalent in many schools within the constituency.
