The abducted University lecturer, an Associate Professor with Kano University of science and technology (KUST) Wudil, Huzaifa Karfi, has been released by his captors.


Karfi was released on Saturday afternoon. He had been abducted in Zaria on Wednesday when he went to deliver the ransom for the village head of Karfi in Takai Local Government Area of Kano, Abdulyahyah Ilu, who then regained freedom.

Daily Trust had earlier reported that gunmen raided and killed six persons in Karfi village of Takai Local Government Area of Kano state and abducted the 53-year-old village head.
The gunmen were said to have stormed the village on three motorcycles from Bauchi state through Ringim forest in Jigawa.
As of the time of filing this report, our correspondent learned that the released lecturer, alongside others, were on their way back to Kano.
