Nigerian Lady Who Borrowed Money for Tuition Wins Four Scholarships, Graduates with First-Class

Despite financial struggles, Adeyinka Adefowora graduated with a First-Class from the University of Ibadan after securing four scholarships, taking on leadership roles, and publishing her research.

Adeyinka Adefowora, a resilient Nigerian student, has graduated with a First-Class bachelor’s degree from the University of Ibadan (UI) despite facing significant financial struggles. As the first in her family to attend university, she had no financial backing and had to borrow money to pay her tuition in her first year.

Determined to succeed, Adeyinka worked hard and ended her first year with a First-Class CGPA. Her outstanding academic performance earned her four scholarships and grants, which fully covered her education until graduation. However, maintaining her First-Class status was not easy, as she experienced a drop in her CGPA in her second year, but she remained committed and ultimately achieved her goal.

Beyond academics, Adeyinka actively took on leadership roles, serving in her campus fellowship, departmental association, and hall of residence. These experiences helped her develop valuable leadership and professional skills, preparing her for future opportunities.

Her dedication to learning also led to the publication of her final-year research work, a milestone she credits to the guidance and encouragement of her supervisor. She expressed deep gratitude to those who supported her journey, particularly Dr. Babatunde Ipaye for the Ajoke Ipaye Foundation Scholarship and Tomayo Berida for the BoluTomi Foundation Scholarship.

Looking ahead, Adeyinka is excited about the future and aspires to make a meaningful impact in her field. Her story serves as an inspiration to students facing financial hardships, proving that perseverance and hard work can lead to success.
