Kwara State College of Education clarifies news on indefinite strike

The attention of the Management of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin has been drawn to a public announcement on the declaration of an indefinite strike by the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin Chapter on Sobi FM this afternoon.

The announcement came as a rude shock to the Management as quite a number of the lecturers were attending lectures in various classes as at the time of airing the public announcement.

The Management of the College outrightly condemns the destructive announcement by some unpatriotic elements among the Executive of the Union, moreso, that the State Government has commenced the process of negotiation with Union with a view to addressing some of their grievances.

The Management views the unfortunate development as not only disturbing but also an embarrassment to the College Community, the State Government and the entire good people of Kwara State.

We want to seize this opportunity to appreciate the State Government for the prompt release of monthly subvention to the College leading to regular payment of salaries. We equally want to appreciate the State Government for the reconstruction of the College road, Umaru Saro – Unilorin axis.

We pledge our continued unalloyed loyalty and support to the State Government in her drive to move the Tertiary Institutions in the State to a greater height.
