Lady Cries Out as Bandits Kidnap Her Cousin in Kogi While He Was Traveling to School

A student traveling to school in Kogi State was kidnapped along Obajana Road when bandits hijacked an 18-seater bus, prompting his cousin to appeal online for public help after the abductors demanded ₦100 million from his widowed mother.

A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to urgently appeal for help after her cousin was kidnapped by armed bandits while traveling back to school in Kogi State.

The incident occurred along the notorious Obajana Road, a route frequently used by commuters and increasingly targeted by criminals.

Attack on 18-Seater Bus

The victim, a student, was aboard an 18-seater commercial bus when the attackers struck. According to the lady, identified on X as @nana_hauwa, the gunmen abducted everyone in the vehicle, including her cousin.

The attack comes amid rising concerns over insecurity and frequent abductions on major highways across Kogi State.

Kidnappers Demand ₦100 Million

Following the abduction, the kidnappers reportedly contacted the victim’s mother, demanding a ransom of ₦100 million. The lady revealed that the mother is a widow who has no means to raise such an amount, leaving the family devastated and desperate.

Family Appeals for Public Support

In her plea, @nana_hauwa called on Nigerians to assist in any way possible—financially, through prayers, or by sharing the information to boost awareness.

She wrote:

“Yesterday, along Obajana Road in Kogi State, an 18-seater bus heading to school was attacked, and everyone on board was kidnapped, including my husband’s cousin. The kidnappers have contacted his mother and are demanding ₦100 million for his release. We tried negotiating, but they said we were not ready and ended the call. She is a widow and has no means to raise such an amount. We are devastated and racing against time. We appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians, friends, and anyone moved by this situation to support us in any way possible—financially, by sharing this post, or through prayers. No amount is too small. Your support could help bring him home alive.”
