The management of McPherson University has appointed Dr. Akeem Olalekan Shonubi as the Acting Dean, College of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences (COHSMAS).
The appointment reflects the University’s confidence in his leadership capabilities, academic pedigree, and long-standing contributions to institutional growth.
Dr. Shonubi holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Babcock University, Ilisan Remo (2017). He also earned an M.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Lagos in 2002, and a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ago-Iwoye, in 1997.
With more than two decades of teaching and research experience, Dr. Shonubi has published over 40 scholarly works in reputable local and international journals. He joined McPherson University in 2017 as a Lecturer II and has risen through the ranks to become a Reader, showing consistent academic excellence and dedication.
He has also served in various administrative roles, including Acting Director of Academic Planning (2021–2022), Acting Assistant Director of Academic Planning (2020–2021), and Ag. Head, Department of Business Administration and Marketing (2019–2024). He currently serves as Chairman of the University’s Examinations Committee and is a member of the McU Five-Year Strategic Plan Committee (2022–2027). The University congratulates Dr. Shonubi on his appointment and wishes him success in his new role. His broad experience in administration and teaching is expected to provide effective leadership to COHSMAS and support the University’s overall vision.
