A newly sworn-in lawyer and her sister were abducted while returning from the Call to Bar ceremony in Abuja, with kidnappers demanding a ₦20 million ransom.


A newly inducted lawyer has been reported kidnapped while traveling home from the Call to Bar ceremony in Abuja, sparking widespread concern on social media.
The news was disclosed by a colleague, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @RhaveOfficial, who appealed for urgent help.
According to the post, the young female lawyer was abducted alongside her sister shortly after the three-day Call to Bar event, which saw 4,437 lawyers admitted to the Nigerian Bar between September 23 and 25, 2025.
@RhaveOfficial revealed that the kidnappers have demanded a ₦20 million ransom for their release.
The tweet read:
“My friend and colleague has been kidnapped on her way home from the Call to Bar ceremony. Please, we need help 🙏🙏. There’s a 20 million naira ransom on her and her sister. @PoliceNG @NBAYLFOfficial @DeleFarotimi.”
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the abduction.
