Cursory: A Nigerian who received a third-class diploma recently bemoaned his miserable encounter with a commercial bank, on social media. The job seeker expressed his disappointment at not being given a chance despite the money he had invested over the course of seven days. Social media users gave him advice on how to improve his situation.

There is a very high number of graduates that are seeking jobs and an even higher number is yet to come because universities keep producing graduates in a society where the job seekers are overwhelmingly higher than available opportunities.
Because of how competitive getting a job is, co-operations, institutions, and employers generally pick the best of the best. This means that one must graduate with a good grade.
A Nigerian graduate’s third-class degree from college has slowed down his ability to find a respectable career. The disgruntled job seeker vented his frustration in the Facebook group, Life, where he sarcastically enquired as to how he may upgrade his degree.
According to the political science master’s degree holder, he was denied employment in one of the commercial banks.
He said it broke his heart because he spent N4k daily for a seven-day training. His post reads: “How can I upgrade my 3rd class, I was denied employment in one of the commercial banks. It breaks my heart, spending 4k daily for 7 day training.”
Reacting to his post, many advised him on his way out of his frustration. Below are some that got our attention:
Uzochukwu Oluo said: “Go to the National Open University , take it seriously and you can get a PGD in one year. “You can get a masters in less than two years. If you take the two seriously and finish with good grades you’re fine. You can still study for your profession’s certification in-between.”
Light Godman said: “Go for a Post Graduate Diploma. After that, go for your Masters degree. Get certifications and learn relevant skills, too. “All the best. Cheers! “#ImLightAndIShine.”
Ogundiminegha Akoredele Isaac said: “Take a conversion programme in a university. “No matter the skills and certifications, 3rd class limitations can still close some doors. “Check out for conversion programmes in some universities.”
Meanwhile, while some find it difficult to secure job opportunity with their 3rd class, one young man, through proper guidance, have risen to a Country Manager in a Huge big Firm.
Sharing the story on Facebook, Olajide narrated how his school son almost gave up due to his not-so-good certificate. But he encouraged him and guided him through the path that led to his astonishing success.
