Bello Peace Olalekan, a Nigerian graduate from Obafemi Awolowo University, earned a degree in Chemical Engineering with an outstanding CGPA of 4.82/5.00, receiving the award for the best graduating student in his department.
Sharing his story on LinkedIn, Peace expressed hopes that his academic journey would inspire others. His passion for Chemical Engineering stemmed from his love for chemistry, mathematics, and a desire to ensure affordable and clean energy. Overcoming challenges, including two surgeries in his second year, Peace reflected on how he raised his GPA from 4.31 to 4.82, crediting resilience and divine grace for his success.
During his academic journey, Peace secured an MTN Foundation scholarship, completed internships with Coca-Cola HBC and SLB, and actively participated in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). In 2020, he led his school to its first AIChE global competition win and began exploring AI and data science. He also published his first academic paper as a student member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers International.
For his final year project, Peace conducted an analysis using data from the Shell Quest Canada Blue Hydrogen Project. He expressed gratitude to his parents, lecturers, advisors, and fellowship group (BSFOAU) for their unwavering support throughout his journey.
Looking ahead, Peace aims to develop innovative solutions that integrate clean energy with smart digital technologies, while encouraging other students to stay persistent, trust the process, and seek continuous growth.
