27-Year-Old Woman Becomes First African-American to Earn PhD in Security Engineering

Christine Izuakor, 27, has made history as the first African-American woman and the youngest person to earn a PhD in Security Engineering from the University of Colorado.

Starting her PhD journey at 23, Christine overcame doubts about her age and experience, using them as motivation to achieve her dream. She began her academic career with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from DeVry University, followed by a master’s in Information Systems Security from the University of Houston.

Her research has been published in international journals, and she has presented at prestigious conferences worldwide, including in South Korea and Italy. Christine shared her story to encourage others to pursue their goals, emphasizing that dedication and hard work can break barriers and achieve greatness.
