Kolawole Zainab, a final-year Quantity Surveying student at Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, collapsed and died minutes before a scheduled examination. A mother of three in her HND II year, she was rushed to the campus medical centre but was declared dead on arrival. The incident has left her classmates and lecturers in deep mourning. School authorities confirmed the tragic event.


A final-year student of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, Kolawole Zainab, died unexpectedly on Wednesday just minutes before a scheduled examination.
Zainab, a mother of three and a student in the Quantity Surveying Department, reportedly collapsed while reviewing her notes ahead of a first-semester exam set for 12 p.m. She was immediately rushed to the institution’s medical centre but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A fellow student who witnessed the incident, and requested anonymity, shared:
“Her sudden death has thrown her classmates into deep mourning. Though we’re not in the same department, we were all preparing for exams. I doubt her class could proceed with theirs after what happened.”
Zainab was in her Higher National Diploma (HND II) year. Her sudden passing has deeply affected both students and staff of the institution.
One lecturer, David Olufunsho Fagboungbe, took to Facebook to express his grief:
“Tears, agony and grief today as female HND QS student of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, and mother of 3 dies in the heat of ongoing first-semester examination 😭😭😭.”
Mr. Sola Lawal, Acting Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations at the polytechnic, confirmed the incident:
“Yes, it’s true. Her name is Kolawole Zainab. She was an HND II student and was brought in dead to our medical centre.”
