Sarah Kareem, a brilliant Nigerian graduate, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) with an impressive 89% grade point, securing awards for Best Graduating Student in Farm Power and Machinery and Best Female Graduating Student in her department.
Marking a significant milestone in her career, Sarah was also inducted into the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), symbolizing her entry into the professional engineering field.
Reflecting on her journey, Sarah shared on LinkedIn that her time at OAU was marked by challenges and triumphs, shaping her resilience, adaptability, and strong work ethic. She distinguished herself in leadership and professional roles, serving as a Project Manager for the NASA Space Hackathon (OAU Chapter) for three years, where she honed her organizational and teamwork skills.
Sarah gained practical experience during her SIWES internship at the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), focusing on waste management, pollution monitoring, and quality control. She further expanded her expertise as a Research Assistant at the University of Arkansas, USA, where she specialized in food safety in the poultry industry and advanced her data analysis skills using tools like Excel and JMP.
Her academic journey culminated in a groundbreaking final-year project—a pilot-scale recirculatory aquaculture system—which earned recognition as the Best Final Year Project in her department.
Expressing gratitude for her achievements, Sarah stated, “All glory to God for the grace to navigate this chapter of my life. I am immensely grateful for the support and guidance I received throughout this journey.”
Looking ahead, Sarah is eager to embrace new opportunities and challenges as she embarks on the next phase of her career, leaving a legacy of excellence and determination.
