After a major policy change derailed her law degree in Benin, Aderonke Gboroye bravely started over in Nigeria, ultimately graduating with double First Class honors and proving that setbacks can lead to even greater success.

A determined Nigerian woman, Aderonke Gboroye, has achieved an extraordinary feat by becoming a double First-Class graduate in Law, after choosing to start her academic journey all over again.
Aderonke initially began her LL.B degree at West African Union University in Cotonou, Republic of Benin. Everything was going well until a major policy shift changed her path. In her third year (300 level), Nigeria introduced a rule that barred graduates from certain foreign universities — including Benin — from attending the Nigerian Law School.
Suddenly, the dream she had invested years in was no longer within reach.
Faced with this unexpected obstacle, Aderonke struggled emotionally. She felt lost and uncertain but refused to give up. Driven by resilience and faith, she began searching for new opportunities in Nigeria and beyond.
In 2018, she made a bold decision: to start over. She gained admission into Achievers University, Owo, as part of the university’s pioneer law class. Despite having already completed years of law school, she had to retake multiple courses — a daunting task she met with courage and determination.
Her efforts paid off. Aderonke graduated with First Class Honours and was named Best Graduating Student from the College of Law. She then went on to excel at the Nigerian Law School, where she earned yet another First Class in her Bar Final Examinations.
Now awaiting her official call to the Bar, Aderonke reflects with gratitude on her journey — every challenge, every prayer, every sleepless night.
“I hope my story reminds you that your journey is still valid. It’s okay to cry sometimes. Just keep going. God is not done with you yet,” she shared.
💡 A Message of Hope
Aderonke’s story is one of perseverance and faith. It’s a powerful reminder that setbacks are not the end — sometimes, they’re just the beginning of something even greater.
If you’re feeling stuck, discouraged, or delayed in your goals, her story proves that it’s never too late to rewrite your path.
