OPM Founder Opens Technical College for Girls to Study for Free

His Royal Majesty King Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere has unveiled the OPM All Girls Technical College. The Institution which is set to commence classes on Saturday will be free for only girls.

His Royal Majesty King Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere has unveiled the OPM All Girls Technical College, a groundbreaking institution scheduled to begin its first academic session in September. This college, unique in Africa, aims to offer free education solely for girls.

The announcement was made by King Apostle Chinyere during a church service at the Omega Power Ministries international headquarters in Mbodo Aluu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

He highlighted that the main objective of this initiative is to eliminate educational discrimination against girls and ensure equal educational opportunities for all children.

The OPM All Girls Technical College is notable for being the only tuition-free technical college for girls in Africa. It provides an opportunity for girls to gain vocational skills at the secondary school level.

The curriculum includes practical skills such as furniture making, auto mechanic repairs, building and construction, fashion and design, food and nutrition, fabrication, electrical and electronics, ICT, farming and food production, phone repairs, barbing and hairdressing, house POP training, air conditioner repairs, paint production, and house painting, among others. Students will also study traditional academic subjects like English, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.

By founding this college, King Chinyere supports UNICEF’s mission to fight gender discrimination and promote quality education for girls. UNICEF leads the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative (UNGEI), a major movement for girls’ education and gender equality since it was launched by the UN Secretary-General in Dakar in 2000. King Apostle Chinyere’s initiative aligns with this cause by offering a platform for girls to acquire a wide range of skills and knowledge, crucial for national development.

King Chinyere emphasized that educating girls is vital for societal advancement. Educated women are more likely to disrupt cycles of social issues and impart valuable knowledge to their children. Education provides girls with the skills needed for various careers, from teaching to medicine, thus helping to address societal challenges and promote national growth.
