NYSC Requested to be Transferred From Borno Over Boko Haram Insurgency Dies In Lagos Building Collapse

A 26-year-old woman, Zainab Sanni Oyindamola, who was sent to the one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps at Fourscore Homes Limited has been confirmed dead.

A member of the regiment was one of the people killed in the collapse of a building in the Ikoyi area of Lagos.

Zainab’s body was pulled out of the rubble on Wednesday, November 3, dashing the hopes of family members who were waiting for the good news at the scene.

According to reports, the young lady was initially sent to Borno State, but due to insecurity in the north, her mother sent her back to Lagos State.

A report from the Daily Trusts stated that the deceased was one of six members of the army deployed to the company.

However, when the others nearly escaped death on a decisive day, Oindamola was trapped in the rubble.

An NYSC source stated that Oyindamola was the only member of the Legion who was killed in the incident.

“She is affectionately called Oyin and she is a member of Team B in 2021.

She was initially deployed to Maiduguri but was redeployed to Lagos after a three-week training,” the source said.

A family member who spoke to reporters at the scene of the incident said that Oindamola resumed work at the company about three weeks ago.

“She has been here ever since. We don’t even know why they sent her here.

She was originally sent to Borno, but her mother redeployed her. If we knew, we would allow her to be there.

A family source who continued her youth service said.

“Due to the rebellion, we asked her not to go to Borno, but she went there for a three-week training, and then came back alive and died.

She is a very humble and respectful girl, and she greets everyone every day when she comes back from getting off work.

“At the same time, friends and colleagues have mourned the dead on Facebook. For example, Agboola Yusuf Olatunji posted a picture of her on Wednesday night.

“She was one of the victims of the collapse of the 21st floor of Ikoyi, but we lost her.

May her gentle soul rest in peace. Sonny Zainab Oindamola Lynk.

We love you, but Allah Almighty loves you even more,” he wrote.
