Ogun Governor Rewards Global Teacher Prize Finalist Kayode Adewale with ₦5m and a Bungalow


Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State honored Kayode Adewale, a Global Teacher Prize finalist, with ₦5 million, a bungalow, and the title of Ogun State Education Ambassador for his innovative contributions to education.

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has honored Kayode Adewale, a mathematics teacher shortlisted among the top 50 finalists for the prestigious $1 million Global Teacher Prize, with ₦5 million and a bungalow in any location of his choice within the state.

Adewale, known for his innovative approach to integrating technology with local language instruction at Imagbon/Imaka Comprehensive High School, Ogun State, was also named Ogun State Education Ambassador by the governor.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Abiodun praised Adewale’s exceptional contributions to education, highlighting his role in placing Ogun State on the global map as Nigeria’s education capital.

“As a visionary educator, Kayode Adewale has earned international recognition through his unwavering commitment to transforming lives and communities via education,” the statement read.

Adewale, an alumnus of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, and recipient of the Ogun State Best Teacher Award in 2020, has received widespread acclaim for his dedication to excellence.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting education and innovation, stating, “We are proud to honor Kayode Adewale as Ogun State Education Ambassador. To celebrate this achievement, we will provide him with a bungalow and ₦5 million to further inspire his outstanding work.”

Adewale’s recognition underscores the transformative impact of education and innovation in Nigeria and beyond.
