Ogun School Wins N250,000 in Essay Competition

The African Church Grammar School, Abeokuta, has won N250,000 and a desktop computer in a state-wide essay and debate competition organized by the Adebiyi Habib Foundation to promote education and self-empowerment in Ogun State.

The African Church Grammar School, Abeokuta, secured first place in a state-wide essay and debate competition, earning a prize of N250,000 and a full HP desktop computer.

The competition, organized by the Adebiyi Habib Foundation in collaboration with the Ogun State Ministry of Education, took place at the June 12 Cultural Centre, with Anglican Girls Grammar School, Ijebu Ode, and Abeokuta Girls Grammar School finishing as the first and second runners-up, winning N150,000 and N120,000, respectively, along with HP printers.

The event featured over 100 entries, with eight schools making it to the final stage. Ogun’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, praised the initiative for promoting education, while guest speaker Oluwafemi Ogunsanya emphasized the importance of technology in learning.

The NGO’s founder, Barrister Adebiyi Habib, highlighted the competition’s goal of reducing out-of-school children and fostering self-empowerment, while Executive Director Akinsowon Lateef expressed hope that the program would inspire participants to become future leaders and innovators.

Exercise books and certificates were distributed to attendees, underscoring the foundation’s commitment to supporting education across Ogun State and Nigeria.
