Oil Firm Awards ₦2.5m Scholarship to Five ABU Zaria Engineering Students

Kenyon International West Africa Company Ltd has awarded a ₦2.5 million undergraduate scholarship to five engineering students of Ahmadu Bello University.

Each of the students was given ₦500,000 as scholarship per annum during the company’s 10th anniversary celebration that was held in Lagos on 12th September, 2025.

The students emerged as the top five qualifiers following competitive selection process and CBT examinations conducted by Iya Abubakar Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IAIICT).

They are Israel Ayeni, Mechatronics Department; Shuaibu Amir Yakubu, Civil Engineering; and Nasiru Saidu Baba, Chemical Engineering.

Others are Khadija Abubakar of the Department of Civil Engineering; and Habib Muhammad Kabir, Department of Chemical Engineering.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Bello Sabo, represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, at the formal scholarship award presentation.

At the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor was equally presented with a special award in appreciation of the university’s support and the important role the institution was playing in shaping future leaders.

It was also in recognition of ABU partnership with Kenyon International West Africa Company Ltd in hosting the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the undergraduate scholarship.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Bello Sabo, thanked most sincerely the company for the gesture.

He called on other oil companies to emulate Kenyon International in producing the required engineering manpower and in shaping future Nigerian leaders, irrespective of their family income status.

The Vice-Chancellor, who congratulated the winning engineering students, equally urged them to utilise the money judiciously to enhance their academic development.
