The 2024/2025 Academic Session Matriculating Students of Augustine University have been encouraged to adopt a value-based lifestyle as they embark on their academic journey.

This advice was delivered by Professor Adeniyi Afolabi, Head of the Department of Chemical Sciences, during the Institution’s 10th Matriculation Ceremony held on Wednesday, 15th January, 2025 at the University’s Convocation Hall.
In his lecture, Professor Afolabi emphasized the importance of building a life centered on Faith, Discipline, and Culture. He explained that a value-based lifestyle is one guided by a clear set of personal values, principles, and beliefs. “It involves making intentional choices and decisions that align with what is most important to you and living in a way that reflects those values,” he said.
He highlighted the characteristics of such a lifestyle as intentional living, authenticity, consistency, purpose, and meaning, urging the students to embrace these qualities throughout their time at Augustine University and beyond.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christopher Odetunde, also addressed the new students, reminding them that their time at Augustine University was not only about academic achievements but also about personal growth. “Your journey here is about shaping yourselves into matured individuals of integrity, insatiable curiosity, and lifelong learning,” he remarked. He urged the students to let intellectual curiosity guide them, explore diverse perspectives, question assumptions, and delve deeply into their chosen professions.
The ceremony marked the matriculation of 279 students for the 2024/2025 academic session and was graced by a distinguished audience, including staff, students, parents, and friends of the University. Among the notable attendees was Dame Doja Otedola, mother of the University’s Chancellor, Mr. Femi Otedola.
In addition to the matriculation formalities, the event featured the presentation of awards recognizing academic and moral excellence, celebrating students who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields.
Among the recipients was Mr. Austine Okoye, a 200-level student from the Department of Mathematical Sciences, who achieved a remarkable CGPA of 5.0 and was listed on the Vice-Chancellor’s Honor List.
