Police in Oyo State are investigating the suspected murder of a teenage boy found dead at the swimming pool of the University of Ibadan.


The Oyo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a teenage boy discovered at the swimming pool of the University of Ibadan.
According to the police spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, the case is currently being treated as a suspected murder. He appealed to the public to stay calm and avoid spreading unconfirmed information.
Reports indicate that the institution’s Chief Security Officer alerted authorities after the body of a boy, believed to be between 14 and 15 years old, was seen floating in the pool.
Police detectives who arrived at the scene observed that the body had already been removed from the water and placed nearby. They also noted blood coming from the boy’s mouth and nose, along with minor bruises on his nose.
Items thought to belong to the victim, including a shirt and a pair of shoes, were found close to the pool. Bloodstains were also discovered within the surrounding pavilion area.
The body was later taken to General Hospital, Adeoyo, Ibadan, where doctors confirmed him dead. It has since been deposited in the mortuary as investigations continue.
